I always wondered how the exhibition team managed to display them so beautifully: fish line?

Suspended Textile Installations

Have you ever seen a life-sized fragile tank? Artist Jannick Deslauriers’ massive thread sculpture of a tank exemplifies her mastery of fiber arts, which offers both a solid structure and a hint of fragility. The three-dimensional structures that Deslauriers produces are both intricately crafted and delicate which makes her Tank piece even more fascinating. The tank is perhaps the best example that reflects Deslauriers’ intentions to simultaneously draw out a sense of destruction and fragility. On her website the artist’s statement gives insight to the motives behind Deslauriers’ work:

“Jannick Deslauriers’ work is a testimony to the poetry of our times. She expresses the helpless vulnerability we may feel when faced with the grace and beauty of created forms, which are at once disturbing and astounding. The same hands simultaneously both weave a story and unravel it. Elements from Jannick Deslauriers’ work create a discourse between fear and dreams, between civility and death, between harmony and conflict, between fantasy and horror. Her work expresses a dream which enables us to comprehend fully the contrasts inherent in our human condition and which allows us to understand our true nature.”

In addition to the tank, Deslauriers has created fabric installations that include a garden of poppies, a sewing machine, and a typewriter. Each of the suspended thread sculptures employ a similar construction. Using translucent fabric and dark-colored thread against a white backdrop, the pieces appear like floating illustrations.

Been hearing much about Mary Katrantzou! Her designs are like a psychadelic mix of Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler and Hussein Chalayan! :)

<3!

MARY KATRANTZOU FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Mary Katrantzou stuck with her head-to-toe print signature look this season and is surely giving Erdem a run for their money! This collection is very vibrant and conceptual with exquisite details within the garments such as spoons, pencils, and even a typewriter. Where they do that at?!

After the show, Katrantzou said: “It was about showing product placement through different colors. I chose the items per colour: it was important to me to associate colors with one everyday, mundane item.” Absolutely brilliant.

BCBG MAX AZRIA FALL/WINTER 2012.13

Talk about a color block! The collection started out with flesh tones and nudes combines with pure whites to create a very delicate surface. Soon after however, color injections started to occur in the form of tangerine and royal blues with a sea of luxe furs. An overall beautiful collection with hints of Piet Mondrain and continuous unique BCBG quality. Peep the footage of the full show (above)!

Just love the strong geometric lines and colours!

Vessels by Adele Outteridge, this is cool!

Vessels is composed of thirty-two Perspex pages bound together at the spine with twine using a Coptic, single-sheet binding developed by the artist.

I had never thought of this before! This is such a brilliant idea for customized seals, gift wraps and paper prints!

This just makes design so advanced. Any cons though?

Wacom Inkling | Here’s wacom’s newest orgasm-inducing product, the inkling. It’s a sketch pen that captures a “digital likeness” to whatever you draw with it on any paper. In addition to capturing each and every one of your strokes, it has the capability to create layers as you go as well as transfer this all onto your computer in a vector or bitmap format, allowing you to do your digital editing desires on Photoshop or whatever is your liking. If you’re interested, watch the official promotional video for it http://youtu.be/fXbBA1DRE84 or click onto wacom’s official page for the inkling, releasing this year, mid-October and starting at $199.00 I love wacom.

This truly sets you thinking how much control and precision is required to complete this beautiful abstraction.

“Myths of the Forest” by Vogue Nippon September 2006

Model: Anja Rubik

Photographer: Carter Smith

This photo set is somewhat morbid and bizarre altogether. It seems like Avatar meets Kesha, “Blow” meets Alice in Wonderland. What’s your take?

Overall, I loved the composure, colour and odd-ity of the 9th image; the model in red dress lying down. It screams several meanings to you at the first glance with the metal grey sculptures, and while man cupping her face, with her arms “surrendering”.

this is pretty freaking amazing..
imagining how the artist managed to keep the sand sturdy with the lights in them..
it ain’t science but art..
